Join to apply for the Technician I- Long Island City, NY role at STERIS Healthcare United States

We are looking for a dedicated Repair Technician to join our team. This is an entry-level position, and no prior instrument repair experience is necessary as we provide training.

Position Overview:

  • This is a remote, customer-facing role supporting our clients in New York.
  • Perform basic to intermediate repairs of surgical instruments, including ultrasonic function, metallurgy, buffing, polishing, bending, shaping, sharpening, hinge points, serrations, and brazing.
  • Demonstrate quality performance in advanced tasks such as Dremel operation, recup and re-jaw, and laparoscopic inspection.
  • Provide invoicing and documentation as required.
  • Work primarily inside a mobile repair truck with frequent visits to hospitals within the territory.
  • Support various locations based on service agreements and customer needs.
  • Follow all safety, health policies, and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment and safety observations.
  • Comply with protocols for the safe operation of mobile labs, including DOT regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience or 2+ years of work experience (verifiable).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and push instrument carts up to 150 pounds.
  • Flexible schedule including early/late hours, nights, and weekends.
  • Minimum 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass DOT medical/physical exams and conduct safety checks on box trucks.
  • Related certifications, military experience, or relevant technical/mechanical training are a plus.

Benefits include competitive pay, healthcare, paid time off, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, and more. The pay range is $18.99 - $26.50 per hour, with potential bonuses or commissions.
