Job summary

Florida Canyon is seeking a Utility Technician to maintain and repair fixed assets across its mining operations. The role includes basic carpentry, plumbing, and upkeep of production facilities while ensuring safety and MSHA compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a background in construction or mining, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and experience with equipment such as forklifts and excavators. Work is conducted on site at the Florida Canyon operation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years’ experience in construction or mining preferred.
• Knowledge of building construction, maintenance, and plumbing required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and wear a respirator.
• Experience with mobile equipment (forklift/telehandler/skid steer/excavator) preferred.

• General cleanliness of assigned equipment.

• Complete assigned work safely and efficiently that meets the company policies and MSHA standards, both with and without direct supervision.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Utility Technician is responsible for various maintenance and support activities across the mine, including general repair, carpentry, basic plumbing, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will be able to perform repair and maintenance on fixed assets to minimize disruption to the operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform day to day activities of all fixed maintenance assets, including but not limited to water supply systems, all facilities, and the crushing plant.
• General cleanliness of assigned equipment.
• Ability to perform general repair and basic plumbing tasks that are assigned and other routine maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of the position required.
• Must have mobile equipment experience, such as forklift/telehandler, skid steer, excavator, required.
• Must be willing and able to work in a mine and plant setting which may include exposure to extreme temperatures, adverse weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles, required.
