Job summary

Impellam Group is seeking a Development Project Manager II for a utilities/transmission portfolio. You will lead project teams, coordinate with engineering, controls, supply chain, and regulatory groups, and ensure scope, schedule, cost, and quality targets are met.

Hybrid role with in-office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The ideal candidate has PM experience in the electrical transmission space and strong leadership and communication skills to drive project success.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field plus 5 years of Project Management experience in Electrical Transmission/Distribution/related field.
  • OR High School/GED plus 9 years of Project Management experience in Electrical Transmission.
  • Understanding of industry terms and experience in utilities/transmission space is required

Responsibilities

  • Lead Project Team with cross-functional internal and external groups (Engineering, Controls, Estimating, Construction, Supply Chain, Legal, EHS, QA/QC, Operations, Regulatory, Security, etc.).
  • Establish and maintain communications; structure and lead project meetings; report monthly status and handoffs.
  • Develop assigned project scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality plans and ensure integration and delivery

Job description

We are seeking a Development Project Manager II to join our team in the utilities and transmission sector.

Role summary / purpose

The Development Project Manager II (PM-II) position has single point accountability and will be under general direction of a Manager of Project Management. This position is responsible for management, or assisting management, of the development of project planning and execution to ensure project success factors are met. These include but are not limited to scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration.

The position is accountable for a portfolio of assigned projects with Low to Moderate levels of risk that impact various levels of the organization, Senior Management or External Agencies. PM-IIs may be assigned projects with specific risk-informed requirements based on specific experience and skill sets.

PM-IIs serve as unifying agents providing leadership, decision making, management, guidance, coordination, and control of overall projects in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements of the organization.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead Project Team
    • Provide leadership, oversight, direction, delegation, and coordination with various internal and external organizations providing services to the project (Engineering, Project Controls, Estimating, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Legal, EHS, QA/QC, Operations, Communications, Stakeholder Engagement, Regulatory, Security, Fuels, Transmission, etc.).
    • Guide matrixed members of the team daily. Interface with functional leaders of matrixed team members regarding placement, development and conflict resolution.
  • Establish and maintain communications among project/programs stakeholders
    • Structure, lead, or assist in project related meetings to ensure open communication between team members, key stakeholders, and management.
    • Prepare, communicate or report monthly project status, hand off meetings, weekly and monthly required communication.
    • Assure Project Plans and appropriate reporting means are developed and communicated according to standards and implementing procedures. Effectively communicate with appropriate management/governance team.
  • Develop assigned project(s) including scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality aspects
    • Champion the process of project planning including scope and work definition, estimating, schedule formation, monitoring, cost control measures, procurement/contracting strategies, equipment selection, vendor selection, start-up and commissioning plans, and integration processes as applicable.
Requirements - education & experience
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in a related field, plus 5 years of Project Management experience in Electrical Transmission/Distribution/related field
  • OR High School/GED plus 9 years of Project Management experience in Electrical Transmission
  • Understanding of industry terms and experience in utilities/transmission space is required

  • Proficient to demonstrated expertise in Project Management, Decision Making, Critical Thinking, and Problem Solving
  • Project related work experience in Risk Management, Project Leadership, Strong Collaboration, and Oversight
  • Proficient to Expert in project related Scheduling and Cost Controls
  • Proficient to Expert in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
Nice-to-have / preferred skills
  • PMP Certification
  • Construction Management knowledge
