Job description

Description:

Our Utility Operator supports Mativ's Sustainability & Adhesives Solutions Function. This individual will report directly to the Converting shop supervisor and takes direction primarily from group leaders. The responsibilities include core cutting, packaging, labeling, and assisting slitting operators with setups and machine operation. Responsibilities may also include material movement within the department and regular inventory management/cycle count activities to ensure a robust inventory control environment. The shift schedule is 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Responsibilities:
  1. Complies with all safety policies and procedures.
  2. Supports converting department by performing all external activities associated with running a slitter, enabling the operator to maximize machine uptime.
    • Packaging slit roles per specifications.
    • Placing finished packages on pallets for storage or shipping.
    • Creating labels per specifications.
    • Applying labels per specifications.
    • Assisting the operator in cleaning the slitter for general cleanliness and preparing for medical product slitting.
    • Assisting the operator in setting up slitters.
    • Assisting operators in running slitters.
  3. Moving materials within the department as required.
  4. Performing cycle count activities to maintain inventory accuracy.
  5. Performing other projects and tasks assigned by group leads and/or department supervisor.
Qualifications:
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written procedures.
  • Follows safety rules and maintains a clean and orderly work area (5S).
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when required.
Preferred
  • SAP, ERP experience.
  • Prior machine setup and operation experience.
Position Demands

Conditions are typical of a manufacturing environment, including temperature variations, dust, fumes, odors, and potential hazards. Periodic lifting up to 30 lbs, long periods of standing, and noise levels requiring hearing protection are expected.

Employees are required to wear PPE, including safety shoes, glasses, bump caps, gloves, and hearing protection as needed.

Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing or pulling up to 250 pounds, working 12-hour shifts, performing repetitive tasks, and maintaining physical mobility and vision.
