Job summary

Stake Center Locating is seeking entry-level Utility Locator (Field Technician) to locate underground utilities, troubleshoot, and mark the ground with paint and flags. We provide 100% paid on-the-job training and equipment. You will work outdoors in all weather, independent, and must solve problems quickly and accurately.

Starting pay is $21.00 per hour with benefits. Training includes safety-focused procedures, maps, blueprints, and locating techniques.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day 2–3 times a week.
• Ability to carry up to 5 lbs of equipment and lift up to 25 lbs (75 lbs with aids).
• Pass pre-employment background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Think safety first when locating underground utilities.
• Use a laptop to receive, document and process tickets and email.
• Read maps, interpret blueprints, and determine the best locating method and sequence.
• Operate provided locating equipment to accurately locate underground utilities.
• Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners.
