Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a field utility locator to locate and mark underground utilities in designated areas near Tyler, TX. You will work independently in the field with a company vehicle, complete locate tickets, and provide clear mark-out services for excavators and property owners.

This role requires outdoor work in varying weather, physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs, color distinction for wiring, and strong communication with crews and homeowners. Overtime and on-call shifts may be needed.

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Previous outdoor experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Availability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Ability to pass a drug screen for this safety-sensitive position.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to distinguish colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Ability to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints.
• Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
• No prior locating experience is needed.

• Locate underground telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer utilities
• Search designated areas for underground utilities
• Accurately mark utility locations
• Complete required locate documentation
• Photograph each locate
• Provide clear and complete mark-out services for excavators or property owners
• Work independently in the field using a company-provided vehicle
• Meet a 48-hour turnaround time on many locates
• Work after holidays and some weekends as needed
• Take overtime, weekend, and on-call shifts, including nights and weekends, based on business needs
