Job summary

Emery Sapp & Sons is seeking an experienced Utility Foreman to lead underground wet utility construction crews, including sewer and water installations, manholes, and related infrastructure. You will ensure safety, quality, and on-time project delivery.

As a Foreman, you will read plans, supervise crew activities, coordinate with project managers, and manage materials and equipment to maximize productivity while upholding compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or vocational training preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in underground wet utility construction, including water, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer installation.
  • Previous experience leading crews on underground utility projects as a Foreman, Leadman, or similar supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze project data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Experience with government contracts and compliance is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise crews performing underground wet utility installation, including water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, manholes, and related infrastructure.
  • Read and interpret utility plans, specifications, grades, and project layouts to ensure proper installation of underground utilities.
  • Coordinate trenching, pipe installation, backfilling, testing, and tie-ins while maintaining production, safety, and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with excavation, trench safety, and utility installation requirements.
  • Ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest level of quality
  • Ensure that all crew members comply with relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards
  • Communicate regularly with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure that work is completed on schedule and within budget
  • Develop and maintain relationships with crew members and subcontractors to ensure that they are aware of project schedules and deadlines
  • Train crew members on safety procedures and best practices
  • Manage project resources, including materials and equipment, to ensure that they are used efficiently and effectively
  • Identify and resolve issues that arise during construction projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest level of quality. As a key member of our team, the Foreman will work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
