Job summary

HBK Engineering, LLC is seeking a Designer to design engineering systems for overhead and subsurface utilities with independence and leadership. The role involves creating detailed construction documents using AutoCAD and integrating asset management platforms, in locations including Chicago, IL; Iowa City, IA; and Suwanee, GA.

Candidates should have field experience, 2D CAD proficiency, and strong Office365/communication skills to collaborate with project teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Field experience: ability to perform site walkdowns and translate constraints into designs.
• Proficient with 2D CAD software (AutoCAD) for detailed construction drawings.
• Ability to work independently and meet project milestones.
• Strong tech skills including Office365 and remote communication tools.

Responsibilities

• Design engineering systems in compliance with specs, codes, and client requirements for overhead and subsurface utilities.
• Own all phases of the design lifecycle, including detailed construction documents using AutoCAD and asset management platforms.
• Analyze data from topographical surveys, utility atlases, field sketches, and manufacturer datasheets.
• Develop utility pole loading models using SPIDAcalc.
• Communicate complex engineering matters to project management, leadership, and field resources.
