Job description

Join to apply for the Utility Coordinator role at STV.

STV has immediate needs for Utility Coordinators in the Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Pinehurst, Raleigh, and Winston-Salem, NC areas to oversee utility coordination and relocations for NCDOT division-managed programs. The work involves managing resources to identify utility conflicts and coordinate relocations prior to construction.

This role offers opportunities to maintain client relationships, expand service areas, participate in major projects, mentor staff, and promote work-life balance.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Develop utility relocation strategies and coordinate the removal, relocation, and modification of utility facilities (water, sewer, gas, electric, telecommunication, etc.).
  2. Interpret highway construction plans, drainage summaries, and specifications to identify utility impacts.
  3. Understand policies, regulations, and standards from FHWA, NCDOT, and relevant NC statutes related to utility relocation.
  4. Apply innovative construction methods while adhering to environmental and roadway standards.
  5. Organize and coordinate multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
  6. Conduct utility meetings with NCDOT, utility owners, and contractors; prepare agendas and minutes.
  7. Communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
  8. Collaborate with design disciplines to resolve utility conflicts practically.
  9. Familiarity with Subsurface Utility Engineering and data interpretation.
  10. Determine cost responsibilities and assist with utility agreements, plans, and schedules.
  11. Perform QA/QC on utility relocation packages for NCDOT submission.
  12. Prepare and review Utility by Others (UBO) plans in MicroStation.
  13. Prepare environmental permit drawings and narratives.
  14. Attend field meetings and site investigations as needed.
  15. Proficient in Microsoft Office or equivalent software.
  16. Experience with NCDOT Utilities Accommodation Manual.
  17. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Specific Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Compensation Range

$47,102.00 - $62,803.00
