Job summary

STV is seeking a Utility Coordination Intern to support utility coordination and relocation activities for NCDOT and municipal transportation projects in Raleigh, NC. This internship provides hands-on experience with utility providers, engineering teams, and transportation professionals to identify utility conflicts and support relocation planning before construction begins.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a two-year degree.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
• Familiarity with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or other engineering design software.
• Exposure to transportation engineering, utility coordination, or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of ProjectWise or other document management systems.
• Interest in utility relocation, roadway design, and public infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Identify utility conflicts by reviewing highway plans and utility records.
• Support relocation planning for water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecom facilities.
• Prepare utility coordination documents, relocation plans, schedules, agendas, and minutes.
• Coordinate with utility owners, NCDOT representatives, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Prepare and review Utility by Others (UBO) plans and related docs.
• Interpret SUE data to identify potential conflicts.
• Assist with cost documentation, relocation agreements, and environmental drawings.
• Attend field visits, site investigations, and coordination meetings.
