Job summary

Western Virginia Water Authority is seeking a Utility Construction Technician III (Construction Maintenance, Asphalt) to perform repairs, maintenance, and installation of water and sewer lines and facilities, operate heavy equipment on asphalt projects, and train crew members. Requires a high school diploma or GED, prior experience preferred, and a Class A CDL with air brake/tanker endorsement.

Qualifications

Job description

Utility Construction Technician III (Construction Maintenance, Asphalt)
Overview

Performs unskilled/skilled work in the repairs, maintenance, construction, and installation of water and sewer lines, facilities, and equipment, and maintains water and sanitary sewer service to customers. Performs duties of UCT I and II as needed. Operates a dump truck, rubber tired backhoe, mini excavator, skid steer, and loader. Performs general laboring tasks, installs/repairs water and sewer pipe and fittings without supervision, services and makes minor repairs on equipment, trains and instructs crew members, inspects equipment for safety, provides necessary gear, maintains accurate log sheets, and works varied shifts including standby, emergencies, overtime, and extended hours. Requires a high school diploma or GED, previous experience preferred, and a Class A commercial driver’s license with air brake/tanker endorsement. Must pass hands‑on equipment tests conducted by division management.
