Job summary

Gfoat is seeking a Utility Technician in Temple, Texas to install, repair, and maintain water and wastewater infrastructure. You will operate various equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Applicants need a High School diploma or equivalent, Class A CDL License with Tanker Endorsement, and specific TCEQ licenses. Responsibilities include pipeline repairs, excavations, and traffic control installations.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL License and Tanker Endorsement are required.
• TCEQ Licenses C Water and Collection I OR D Water and Collection II are required.

Responsibilities

• Repairs water and wastewater lines; cleans and inspects pipes.
• Installs water and wastewater infrastructure including mains, services, and laterals.
• Assists in excavation and operates air hammer to break rock and asphalt.
• Cleans wastewater lines and uses rods to unclog or clean mains & laterals.
• Performs line locates of water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Cleans & maintains tools and equipment.
• Drives various trucks, primarily dump trucks.
• Installs traffic control in accordance with standards.

Summary

Utility Technician, under the general supervision of the Crew Leader, installs, repairs, and maintains water and wastewater infrastructure, operating related equipment and ensuring compliance with safety and traffic control standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Repairs water and wastewater lines; cleans and inspects pipes; installs repair parts and evaluates effectiveness of repair
• Installs water and wastewater infrastructure including, but not limited to, mains, services, and laterals; taps and meters; valves; manholes; air relief valves; fire hydrants; cleanouts, etc.
• Assists in excavation; operates air hammer to break rock and asphalt; uses pick and shovel to remove dirt and rock from excavations; uses probe to locate pipes
• Cleans wastewater lines; uses hand and / or machine rods to unclog or clean mains & laterals
• Performs line locates of water and wastewater infrastructure in accordance with Texas One Call laws
• Cleans & maintains tools and equipment
• Drives various trucks, primarily dump trucks, to haul material related to the repair and installation of water and wastewater infrastructure
• Loads, unloads, and operates dump trucks and other heavy equipment
• Installs traffic control in strict accordance with state and federal manuals of traffic control devices
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned
