Western Virginia Water Authority is seeking a Utility Construction Technician III to perform repairs, maintenance, and construction on water and sewer lines and equipment, including asphalt work. The role requires operating dump trucks, backhoes, mini excavators, skid steers, and loaders, with standby and overtime as needed.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and a Class A CDL with air brake/tanker endorsement; hands-on tests will be administered by management.
Performs unskilled/skilled work in the repairs, maintenance, construction, and installation of water and sewer lines, facilities, and equipment, and maintains water and sanitary sewer service to customers. Performs duties of UCT I and II as needed. Operates a dump truck, rubber tired backhoe, mini excavator, skid steer, and loader. Performs general laboring tasks, installs/repairs water and sewer pipe and fittings without supervision, services and makes minor repairs on equipment, trains and instructs crew members, inspects equipment for safety, provides necessary gear, maintains accurate log sheets, and works varied shifts including standby, emergencies, overtime, and extended hours. Requires a high school diploma or GED, previous experience preferred, and a Class A commercial driver’s license with air brake/tanker endorsement. Must pass hands‑on equipment tests conducted by division management.
