Job summary

The City of Amarillo is seeking a Utility Billing Cashier to process payments for utility accounts and assist customers with inquiries. The role emphasizes accuracy, courtesy, and strong service orientation in a fast-paced environment.

Under supervision, you will operate cash handling equipment, balance registers, and generate payment reports while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer focus. The position runs Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Customer service or cashier experience.
• Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly.
• High energy with strong customer service skills.
• Basic math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming customers, answering questions, helping locate items, providing recommendations.
• Operating scanners, scales, cash registers, and other electronics.
• Balancing the cash register and generating reports for credit and debit sales.
• Accepting payments, ensuring prices/quantities are accurate, providing receipts.
• Maintaining accuracy and workspace, following cashier procedures.
