Job summary

City of Lubbock is seeking aBilling Data Clerk to process exceptions in metered utility data and assist with customer billing inquiries. You will review consumption, verify rates, and adjust records per established policies, while communicating clearly with internal teams and end users.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) with experience in financial records, strong data analysis, and knowledge of utility billing practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 6 months to 2 years of experience maintaining and reviewing financial and statistical records.
• Knowledge of modern business office practices.
• Understanding of customer service best practices.
• Ability to read, understand and apply rates, tariffs, and ordinances related to billing of municipal general and metered services.
• Ability to analyze data and make decisions within defined policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Process AMI meter read exceptions using pre-configured validation, estimation, and editing tools and existing processes.
• Review utility usage, determine average consumption, verify rates, investigate potential errors, and make adjustments as needed.
• Respond to internal customer inquiries regarding meter reading data, utility billing, and rates.
• Assist Utility Customer Support with meter reading and billing questions.
• Perform related duties as required.
