General Mills is hiring a Utilities Mechanic at our Hannibal manufacturing site. The role covers preventive and corrective maintenance on boilers, ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, and related systems, with a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance or equivalent education in a related field.
• Proven ability to use multimeter and other electrical equipment/components.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, HVAC, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
• Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems.
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts.
• Must understand and communicate in English in the workplace.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull, and twist for extended periods.
• Willingness to work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, or dusty conditions.
• Ability to climb and/or work at heights with PPE.
• Ability to follow safety, quality, and grooming standards.
• Ability to wear PPE such as safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, hard cap, beard net, gloves, etc.
• Ability to work around high-speed machinery and food allergens.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on boilers, steam systems, HVAC, ammonia refrigeration, and related equipment.
• Operate and troubleshoot equipment using electrical and mechanical knowledge.
• Conduct daily wastewater sampling and monitoring, and check boiler, feedwater, and condensate chemistry per shift.
• Perform daily checks on ammonia and boiler systems as required by regulations.
• Support site-wide alarm systems for fire, severe weather, and ammonia emergencies after training.
• Understand and troubleshoot site-security equipment, including gates, key-fob readers, and turnstiles.
• Document work and readings in maintenance/quality systems; communicate issues during handoffs.
• Follow GMP, HACCP, allergen-control, foreign-material-control, and chemical-control requirements.
• Participate in safety audits and cross-functional teams such as Yield, Efficiency, and Safety.
• Perform general facilities tasks like painting and winter sidewalk salting.
• Assist other plant areas as assigned.
