Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR in Martin, SC is seeking an experienced Utilities Manager to lead the safe, reliable, and cost‑effective operation of plant utility systems. The role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, EHS and contractors to ensure continuous utility availability and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include directing daily utility operations, training and developing staff, defining staffing needs, monitoring uptime and energy KPIs, and leading root‑cause investigations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of manufacturing, chemical plant, or industrial utility experience.
• 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience with boiler operations, steam systems, compressed air, cooling water, electrical distribution, and industrial HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of OSHA PSM and environmental compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operation of site utility systems.
• Lead, train, coach, and develop utility operators and technical personnel.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, training, and employee performance.
• Ensure uninterrupted utility supply to manufacturing operations.
• Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Develop contingency and emergency‑response plans for utility failures.
• Establish and monitor KPIs for uptime, energy consumption, reliability, and operating costs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DHEC, environmental permits, and company EHS requirements.
• Partner with Maintenance and Reliability teams on preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions involving utility equipment.
• Support energy conservation, sustainability, process optimization, and utility modernization initiatives.
