Job summary

The City of Thornton is seeking a Utilities Maintenance Mechanic at multiple levels to perform maintenance and repair on water and wastewater facilities and equipment. Training is provided, and advancement is possible based on experience.

Roles include the entry-level Mechanic I, intermediate Mechanic II, and journey-level Mechanic III with increasing responsibilities and certifications. A CDL-B license is required, with related water certifications, and on-call duties may apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Two years of mechanical maintenance and repair experience for Mechanic II; three years for Mechanic III; equivalent combinations may be considered.
• CDL-B license with safe driving record; specific water distribution/sewer certifications required per level.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and mechanical repair of water and wastewater facilities equipment.
• Maintain service records and inventory; develop maintenance schedules.
• Monitor water supply systems, pump stations, and treatment facilities; assist with chemical handling and safety procedures.
• Operate and maintain pumps, motors, valves, actuators, and related equipment.
• Participate in on-call rotations and overtime as required.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and SCBA protocols.
