Job summary

The City of Bloomington Utilities is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to inspect, maintain and repair booster and lift stations, pumps and related equipment. The role requires handling preventive maintenance, minor electrical work, and occasional ground-keeping tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.

Applicants should have a High School diploma or equivalent and a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement (or be able to obtain within 120 days).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of wastewater lift stations and water booster station systems preferred.
• Ability to diagnose electrical and mechanical failures and perform routine inspections.
• Must be able to operate department vehicles and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and preventative maintenance to booster and lift stations.
• Repairs pumps, equipment and machinery, including diagnostic testing.
• Maintenance of equipment such as oil changes, greasing and valve/pump checks.
• Operate outdoors in varying weather and respond to emergencies as needed.
