Job summary

City of Thornton seeks Utilities Maintenance Mechanic I–III to service sewer lift stations, water treatment facilities, and related equipment. Entry, intermediate, and journey levels offer a clear path for growth within a municipal utilities team.

Under supervision, technicians perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections, with in-house and on-the-job training provided to build proficiency in pumps, valves, motors, and chemical handling systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of mechanical maintenance/repair experience (II) with related certifications preferred.
• Three years of mechanical maintenance/repair experience (III) in water plant operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a 24-hour on-call status for emergency situations.
• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and mechanical repair of machinery and equipment.
• Adjusts, lubricates, aligns, diagnoses and replaces components as required.
