Job Overview
We are seeking a senior Industry Vertical Lead – Utilities to define and execute industry strategy, solution development, and go-to-market initiatives across municipal, regional, and industrial utility operators, with a primary focus on Water and Wastewater utilities.
This role combines deep Utilities domain expertise with engineering, automation, digital transformation, and consulting sales leadership to drive revenue growth, strengthen executive client relationships, and deliver large-scale modernization programs in regulated and infrastructure-intensive environments.
The role serves as the organization’s subject matter authority for the Utilities sector and plays a critical role in thought leadership, executive engagement, and multi-million-dollar digital and automation program delivery.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the strategic roadmap for the Utilities industry vertical
- Serve as subject matter expert across Water and Wastewater treatment, distribution, collection systems, and pumping infrastructure
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, executive briefings, and customer engagements
- Develop thought leadership including whitepapers, frameworks, maturity models, and industry POVs
- Define Utilities digital maturity models aligned to:
- International Society of Automation ISA-95 / ISA-88 standards
- American Water Works Association best practices
- Asset management and cybersecurity frameworks
- Lead executive discussions on SCADA modernization, operational resilience, asset performance management, industrial data platforms, OT cybersecurity, and AI-driven optimization
- Create Utilities-specific service offerings combining engineering, automation, analytics, and digital transformation capabilities
- Define end-to-end solution architectures spanning SCADA/HMI, PLC/DCS, historians, telemetry systems, asset management platforms, and cloud analytics
- Translate Utilities domain insights into scalable, repeatable solution packages
- Define value propositions, pricing strategies, and competitive differentiation for municipal and regulated utility markets
- Own industry revenue growth, margin performance, and sales forecasting
- Manage 1–3 strategic accounts and 3–5 focused accounts within the Utilities vertical
- Drive full enterprise sales cycles from executive engagement through deal closure
- Shape and sell $1M–$10M digital transformation and modernization programs
- Create executive-ready proposals, business cases, and statements of work
- Mentor and manage business development and account management teams
- Serve as executive sponsor for major Utilities programs
- Ensure solutions meet regulatory, compliance, cybersecurity, and data integrity requirements
- Collaborate with MES, SCADA/HMI, Automation, Data Engineering, Cloud, and AI teams for cohesive delivery
- Partner with marketing on industry events and lead-generation initiatives
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in Utilities, Water/Wastewater, or infrastructure-intensive industries
- Strong expertise in regulatory and compliance environments (EPA, state, and local utility regulations)
- Proven experience selling engineering, automation, OT, or digital transformation services
- Demonstrated success selling to C-suite and senior executive stakeholders
- Experience with SCADA/HMI, PLC/DCS systems, historians, and telemetry platforms
- Strong understanding of industrial automation and infrastructure operations
- Proven track record of driving profitable revenue growth year over year
- Experience owning strategic accounts and managing complex enterprise sales cycles
- Strong leadership, communication, and executive presentation skills
- Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce
- Willingness to travel up to 40%
- US work authorization required

- Experience in consulting or advisory roles (Principal, Director, Engagement Lead)
- Familiarity with asset management platforms and condition-based maintenance strategies
