Job summary

The City of Buda, TX, is seeking an Assistant Public Works Director - Utilities to lead water and wastewater operations, asset management, and regulatory compliance. You will oversee planning, budgets, capital projects, and performance improvements while developing staff and coordinating with partners to ensure safe, reliable utility services for residents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, engineering, environmental science, natural resources, construction management, business administration, or related field; five years of municipal water or wastewater utility experience, incl. three years in supervision.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Must obtain and maintain licenses/certifications required by the City or regulations.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and evaluates water-supply planning, water distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, reclaimed-water, lift-station, utility maintenance, regulatory compliance, asset-management, and related CIP activities.
• Oversees operation, maintenance, and repair of potable water distribution, wastewater systems, reclaimed-water, lift-stations to ensure reliable service and environmental protection.
• Directs budgeting for operating and capital needs; supports rate and impact-fee evaluations.
• Plans and coordinates utility CIP projects with scope, schedules, costs, and procurement documents.
• Coordinates emergency preparedness and response for water and wastewater systems.
