Job summary

City of Austin's Austin Water is seeking an Assistant Director of Environmental, Development, and Planning Services to lead planning and asset management across water and wastewater systems. You will oversee policy development, budget coordination, and inter-department collaboration to advance sustainable infrastructure and service reliability.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive utility experience, strategic leadership, and strong communication skills to guide multi-year capital projects

Qualifications

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and six years of progressive management experience.
Master’s degree may substitute for up to two years of the required experience.
Texas Professional Engineer license required.

Responsibilities

Directs division activities and forecasts supply and demand for efficiency.
Develops asset management plans for water and wastewater assets.
Plans long-range water and wastewater systems and CIP spending.
Sets goals and resources for Environmental, Development, and Planning activities.
Reviews policies and ensures compliance with city practices and procedures.
Reviews hydraulic performance and prioritizes 5–10 year CIP projects.
