Job summary

Benesch is expanding its transportation practice in Utah and seeks a Roadway Project Engineer with a strong base in civil engineering and a focus on planning, design, and construction of transportation projects for public agencies. The role includes preparing plans, specs, and cost estimates, mentoring staff, and contributing to proposals.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Civil Engineering, experience with UDOT and/or municipalities, proficiency in MicroStation and ORD, and a Utah PE or

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
• Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment on challenging projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
• Ability to develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner.
• Experience working with UDOT and/or municipalities.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Utah Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain upon hire (Preferred).
• Project experience in transportation engineering design (Preferred).
• Digital delivery and alternate delivery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Developing detailed designs of urban and rural roadways from preliminary to final design.
• Collaborating with team members, communities, and stakeholders to define data needs, project requirements, and outputs to develop applications.
• Compiling and coordinating plans, specifications, cost estimates, and pay items.
• Supporting studies and alternative analysis to determine best solutions to meet compliance and client goals.
• Working with various disciplines and reviewers to ensure complete, accurate, and high-quality deliverables.
• Contribute to proposal development.
• Managing small projects, project tasks, and assisting Project Managers in overall large project delivery.
• Manage and maintain project documentation.
