Job summary

AstraZeneca in Gaithersburg, MD, is seeking a senior leader to own and evolve the USMA iMAP planning capability, translating strategic goals into an integrated portfolio and annual milestones.

You will lead the SPM organization, oversee the Business Specialist team, and drive end-to-end financial planning cycles with the Finance Director. The role emphasizes enterprise transformation, governance, and executive storytelling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, science, healthcare, technology or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of pharmaceutical experience ideally in Medical Affairs.
• Progressive, senior leadership experience across business planning, portfolio/program management and operations.
• Experience leading professional teams and people leaders, including coaching and succession.
• Strong portfolio judgment, risk management and executive escalation.
• Experience owning end-to-end financial planning cycles (MTP) and narrative building with finance partners.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
• Excellent planning, facilitation, synthesis and executive communication skills.
• Proficiency with portfolio/project management tools and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the integrated USMA iMAP planning capability and translate enterprise strategy into an integrated portfolio.
• Lead the SPM organization, setting objectives and standards, and building leadership for next-gen talent.
• Oversee the USMA Operations Manager and Business Specialist orgs, including PO/invoicing/budget rephasing in Anaplan.
• Assess demand and capacity and deploy resources across teams.
• Own USMA planning rhythm, forums, dashboards, and governance across franchises.
• Lead the finance and planning cycle end-to-end with the Finance Director; drive MTP process and narratives.
• Tell a clear portfolio story to senior leadership and executives.
• Sponsor enterprise transformation and cross-franchise priorities (MALT, OLT).
• Lead ONX and USMA All Hands meetings and coordinate franchise sub-teams.
• Define and improve operating model, standards, tools, and templates for enterprise-wide PM approaches.
• Own talent strategy: hiring, onboarding, performance, coaching and succession for SPM and Business Specialist.
• Partner with CIME Innovation to advance AI-enabled ways of working.
• Ensure compliance with policies, quality requirements, governance, and financial controls.
