Job summary

AstraZeneca plc is seeking a Lead/Head of USMA Business Planning to own the integrated US Medical Affairs planning cycle. This enterprise-facing role drives strategy, portfolio, budgets and milestones with AI-enabled capabilities, partnering with the Finance Director and CIME leaders.

You will shape how enterprise strategy translates into the USMA portfolio and ensure decision-ready insights for senior leadership across franchises.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, science, healthcare, technology or related discipline.
8+ years of pharmaceutical experience ideally in Medical Affairs.
Progressive, senior leadership experience across business planning, portfolio/program management and operations.
Experience leading professional teams and people leaders, including coaching and succession.
Strong portfolio judgment, risk management and executive escalation.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
Experience owning end-to-end financial planning cycles (MTP) and narrative building.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve the integrated USMA business planning capability (iMAP).
Lead the SPM organization and drive the integrated USMA medical planning process.
Oversee USMA Operations Manager and Business Specialist activities (POs, invoicing, budget rephasing).
Assess demand and capacity; flexibly deploy resources to priorities.
Independently own USMA planning rhythm, forums, agendas, milestones and scorecards.
Drive end-to-end USMA finance and planning cycle, partner with Finance Director.
Tell a clear portfolio story to senior leadership; align franchise and functions.
