Job summary

Morrison is seeking a seasoned Chief Engineer to lead the engine room crew aboard our vessel in Houma, LA. The role focuses on managing propulsion, auxiliary systems, and all related mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring full compliance with US Coast Guard and environmental regulations.

You will supervise engine room personnel, schedule watches, and coordinate maintenance while reporting system status to the Master and shore management.

Qualifications

• Supervising shipboard engine room personnel and operations.
• Knowledge of US Coast Guard regulations and environmental rules.
• Effective communication, written and oral, with crew and shore management.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of propulsion and mechanical systems per USCG and company policies.
• Schedule and supervise engine room watches and crew activities.
• Direct and oversee engine room repairs and routine maintenance.
• Report system status and ongoing issues to the Master and shore management.
• Coordinate with Master for inspections and compliance with safety and environmental rules.
• Assist with US Coast Guard inspections as required.
