Job summary

MIS Tracking in Galveston, TX seeks an experienced Chief Engineer for offshore vessel operations. The role leads engine room activities, supervises engineering staff, and ensures safe, reliable maintenance of all vessel systems. Travel to offshore departures is covered for qualified candidates living elsewhere.

The incumbent will oversee maintenance planning, records, and compliance with USCG and STCW standards, supporting vessel performance during normal operations, maneuvers, and inspections.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Coast Guard Designated Duty Engineer License, 4,000 HP or Higher is required.
  • Previous Chief Engineer experience on offshore vessels.
  • Experience with offshore vessel engineering operations and marine diesel engine maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with pumps, winches, compressors, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and engineering logs/records.
  • Ability to manage fuel, lube oil, water, and spare parts inventories.
  • Engine room watchstanding and readiness for inspections and emergencies.
  • USCG inspection readiness and marine safety compliance, plus STCW endorsements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the operation, maintenance, and repair of vessel machinery, including diesel engines, electrical equipment, pumps, winches, hydraulic systems, refrigeration equipment, and compressors.
  • Manage fuel, lubricating oil, water, spare-parts inventory.

Description

A leading offshore maritime operator is seeking experienced Chief Engineers for multiple opportunities based in Galveston, Texas. Candidates do not need to reside in the Galveston area. For qualified candidates who live elsewhere, the company will pay for travel to Galveston when the vessel is scheduled to depart for offshore work. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of all vessel engineering equipment. This senior shipboard role leads engine room operations, supervises engineering personnel, manages maintenance and repair activities, maintains engineering records, and ensures operational readiness during normal operations, maneuvering, inspections, and emergencies.
