Walmart Inc. is hiring a Staff Data Scientist, Measurement Excellence in San Bruno, CA to strengthen the quality, consistency, and business impact of Walmart Connect’s advanced measurement capabilities.

The role partners across Measurement, Advanced Analytics, Data Science, Product, Engineering, Product Marketing, and business teams to support complex initiatives, translate analytical challenges into practical solutions, and drive data-driven insights that optimize advertising investments.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in measurement, data science, advanced analytics, econometrics, quantitative strategy, or a related field.
• Experience with multiple measurement approaches such as causal inference, experimentation, incrementality, attribution, media mix modeling, or related techniques.
• Proven ability to understand assumptions, strengths, limitations, and appropriate application of analytical methodologies.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and model development.
• Experience managing complex ambiguous projects end-to-end, including risk and change management.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to deliver actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills to influence and guide stakeholders through analytical findings and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Partner on high-priority measurement and methodology initiatives with focus on rigor, consistency, scalability, interpretability, and appropriate use.
• Collaborate with subject-matter experts to evaluate measurement approaches and provide structured, evidence-based recommendations on their application.
• Identify methodological risks, limitations, inconsistencies, and opportunities to strengthen existing approaches.
• Develop and refine practical frameworks and decision criteria with stakeholders to help teams evaluate and apply measurement methodologies.
• Serve as a trusted resource for complex measurement questions, partnering with SMEs to develop recommendations and resolve issues.

Collaborating across functions, they ensure data quality and effective model deployment to support business decisions. Hoboken, New Jersey US-10279: The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00
