Job summary

Novartis Group of Companies seeks an Associate Director, US Insurance to shape and execute the U.S. commercial insurance strategy, serving as a trusted advisor to business leaders.

You will lead placements, oversee claims, manage broker relationships, and guide risk transfer and governance across the organization. The role requires broad knowledge of insurance program governance, cross-functional collaboration, and senior-level negotiation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business administration, insurance, law or related field.
• Significant experience managing commercial insurance programs, risk transfer strategies and complex claims in a corporate environment.
• Strong knowledge of insurance policy placement, underwriting, contractual risk transfer, and governance.
• Experience managing insurance brokers, external service providers, and cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
• Strong financial acumen with budgets, forecasting, reporting and compliance experience.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and project management skills with influence across a matrix organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the negotiation, placement, and renewal of U.S. commercial insurance programs aligned with global strategy.
• Manage complex insurance claims and partner with Legal, brokers, insurers, and stakeholders to maximize coverage.
• Oversee brokers and third-party providers, set performance standards and ensure cost-efficient high-quality support.
• Advise on contractual risk-transfer provisions, insurance requirements, and coverage for projects and supply-chain agreements.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, SOX reporting, and compliance activities.
• Support M&A integration, process optimization, risk analysis, and continuous improvement in Corporate Insurance.
