Job summary

Novartis is seeking an Associate Director, US Insurance to shape and execute the US commercial insurance strategy, advise leaders, and manage broker relationships. You will oversee insurance placements, complex claims, and risk-transfer governance to protect the company and support strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Insurance, Law, or related field.
• Significant experience managing commercial insurance programs, risk transfer strategies, and complex claims in a corporate setting.
• Strong knowledge of policy placement, underwriting, contractual risk transfer and governance.
• Experience managing brokers, external service providers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong financial acumen with budgeting, forecasting, reporting and compliance experience.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication and PM skills with ability to influence across a matrix organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the negotiation, placement, and renewal of U.S. commercial insurance programs aligned with global strategy.
• Manage complex insurance claims and coordinate with Legal, brokers, insurers and stakeholders to optimize coverage.
• Oversee brokers and third-party providers, set performance standards and ensure cost-effective, high-quality support.
• Provide guidance on contractual risk-transfer provisions and insurance requirements for projects and agreements.
• Lead insurance budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, SOX reporting and compliance activities.
• Support M&A integration, process optimization, risk analysis and continuous improvement within Corporate Insurance.
