Traveling Field Engineer

Apex is hiring for a Traveling Field Engineer supporting an enterprise information technology client!

Candidates MUST be local to the Western NYC/Tribecca area and comfortable with traveling to various client sites (must use own vehicle).

Travel Requirement: Up to 50‑75% (Must have own vehicle; mileage reimbursement). Up to 300 weekly mile radius.

Contract Duration: 24+ months

Pay Rate: $25/hour

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8‑hour shifts (40 hours/week), potential overtime.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Field Engineer to support the client customer data centers by resolving hardware and infrastructure issues. This role requires hands‑on experience with enterprise‑level systems and a strong understanding of data center operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across IT infrastructure including client and multi‑vendor enterprise systems, servers, storage, and networking.
• Perform rack and stack, hardware installations, disk drive and memory replacements, and hot swaps.
• Utilize software tools for daily operations and troubleshooting in a data center environment.
• Provide client‑facing support with professionalism and technical expertise.
• Collaborate with team members during a 45‑90 day training period; you will not be expected to work solo during this time.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen with a valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a mailing address.
• 2–3+ years of hands‑on experience with servers, cables, racks, workstations, routers/switches, and network infrastructure.
• Experience in data center environments is highly preferred.
• Strong client‑facing communication skills.
• CompTIA+ certification is a plus.
