Job summary

GoCardless, a leading global fintech, is expanding its Regulatory and Compliance team in the US and Canada. You will craft regulatory strategy, obtain essential licences, and oversee compliance programs across cross-border activities and partners.

We seek an experienced manager who can advise product teams, engage regulators, and drive AML/CTF and sanctions programs while enabling growth with robust controls and governance. This remote role includes international travel.

Qualifications

• Experience managing compliance for US card programs and embedded payments in fintech or similar sectors.
• Direct experience running a regulated financial services company in the US.
• Ability to counsel product and business teams on regulatory impacts and expansion plans.
• Experience drafting and implementing compliance programs, policies and frameworks.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across functions.
• Capability to operate at a strategic, company-wide level.

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive regulatory strategy for the US and Canada aligned with business goals.
• Obtain and maintain licences and authorisations as needed, manage scope changes.
• Oversee regulatory oversight, controls, reporting and engagement in the region.
• Lead regulatory examinations and audits and remediate findings.
• Support corporate governance to maintain good standing and compliance.
• Partner with product counsel to assess regulatory risks and path to compliance.
• Oversee AML/CTF and sanctions programs in the US and Canada
• Support training for Board, execs and staff on regulatory obligations.
