Job summary

MercyCare is seeking a part-time Clinical Scribe RN for our Urology Clinic in Cedar Rapids, IA. The nurse will support providers by creating accurate progress notes in EPIC, taking vitals, and managing patient information during visits.

The role requires an active Iowa RN license, BLS, and prior medical office experience. Daily tasks include documentation, patient education, discharge planning, and coordinating tests as directed by the provider.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required or compact state.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse & Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training.
• Previous medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare progress notes using provider-built EPIC tools for HPI, ROS, PHx, and plan.
• Review patient history, allergies, meds, reason for visit, and take vitals.
• Administer injections and collect lab specimens per standing orders; perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Document encounter thoroughly in all sections (problem list, ROS, PE, assessment, plan, meds, referrals).
• Provide patient education and discharge instructions; print after-visit summary.
• Manage patient calls regarding test results and treatment instructions.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures and treatments as directed by the provider.
• Ensure room prep, supplies, and safety procedures are followed.
