Job summary

Mercy Medical Center seeks an RN-licensed medical scribe to support physicians in the Cedar Rapids clinic. The role involves real-time charting, patient interaction, and ensuring complete, accurate documentation in EPIC during visits.

You will handle pre-visit preparation, specimens as needed, and post-visit summaries, while providing patient education and coordinating follow-up care. The position offers a stable day shift with 40 hours per week and a signing bonus up to $5,000.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Iowa or a compact state is required or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse & Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training must be completed.
• Medical office experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the patient visit progress note using provider-built EPIC documentation tools.
• Ensure health maintenance and immunizations are up to date.
• Room patients, review histories, allergies, medications, and take vitals.
• Under standing orders, assist with injections and phlebotomy as needed.
• Document encounters comprehensively in the EHR and provide patient education.
• Coordinate discharge instructions and follow-up scheduling as directed.
