Job summary

Concord Hospital is seeking a Specialty Practice Scheduler to enhance patient experience by coordinating scheduling across specialty, primary and ancillary services. You will greet patients, manage clinic and testing appointments, and ensure timely communication with providers.

The role involves obtaining pre-authorization for testing, reconciling notes, and supporting referral coordination. Strong communication, familiarity with medical terminology, and EMR systems are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; annual competency exam.
• Experience with medical office operations preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients in person and on the phone in a cordial, professional, and compassionate manner.
• Facilitates patient care between specialty, primary, and ancillary services (e.g., lab, radiology).
• Spends at least 70% of time scheduling clinic and diagnostic testing/procedure appointments.
• Obtains diagnostic testing/procedure prior-authorization with payers.
• Ensures all appropriate pre-diagnostic testing/procedure labs and post-diagnostic appointments are scheduled/completed.
• Educates patient on diagnostic study/procedure preparation.
• Aids communication and coordination among clinicians by ensuring the availability of notes and information regarding procedures, diagnostic testing, and appointments.
• Communicates with outside offices, facilities and hospital departments to help facilitate care and services (CH and outside referrals).
• Researches incomplete or incorrect orders.
• Prioritizes work appropriately, attending to tasks while serving patients at the window.
• May support other administrative functions in the practice as needed.
