Job summary

Haywood Regional Hospital in North Carolina is seeking a Radiology Tech for Urgent Care on a PRN, variable schedule. You’ll perform imaging exams, assist with contrast administration, and maintain safety standards to support fast, accurate care.

Qualifications

• Radiologic Technologist license valid in the state.
• Degree from an approved Radiologic Technology program.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in other imaging departments preferred.
• ARRT registration or registry-eligible and maintain status.
• Ability to work in high-stress environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Review patient history and physician orders; educate patient on procedures and exams.
• Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within scope; monitor patient status.
• Prepare equipment and supplies; set exposure factors; perform safety and QC procedures; report malfunctions.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve imaging problems.
• Position patient and perform imaging procedures; analyze results and ensure image quality; report results.

More about our team

Join our Urgent Care Team consisting of 2 Providers, Registered Nurse (RN), Rad Tech and Lab Assistant. We are a walk‑in clinic that treats injuries or illnesses requiring immediate care, but not serious enoughto require an ER visit. Hours of operation: 7 days a week, 8:00am-6:30pm. This position offers the opportunityto care for the needs of our community andhelps offload the ER so that they can care for emergent patients.

How you'll contribute

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state Radiologic Technologist license and possess a degree from an approved course in Radiologic Technology. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• Hospital training during two years of Radiologic Technologist program.
• Experience in other x-ray departments, clinics, or medical offices highly desired.
• Must be a member of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible and maintain registry once received.
• Desirable to belong to national, state and/or local societies.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
