Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center in Clyde, NC is seeking a Pharmacist to manage drug therapy and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team across ICU, PCU/Cardiac, and Emergency Departments. You will review medication orders, provide information to staff and patients, and document interventions for quality improvement.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and state licensure in Pharmacy, with Basic Life Support within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and current state Pharmacy license.
• Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ARRT certification not required; registry eligibility and maintenance preferred.
• Hospital pharmacy experience is highly desirable.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manages drug therapy protocols as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Reviews, interprets and evaluates medication orders to identify drug-related issues.
• Provides drug information to medical staff, healthcare professionals, and patients.
• Documents interventions and outcomes for quality improvement.
• Verifies accuracy of medication orders prior to entry and after filling by technicians.

How you'll contribute

A Pharmacist who excels in this role:

• Manages drug therapy protocols as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Reviews, interprets and evaluates medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential or actual drug related problems.
• Provides drug information and education to medical staff, healthcare professionals, and patients, and pharmacy students.
• Documents interventions and their outcomes for use in drug therapy quality improvement efforts.
• Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and completeness prior to order entry.
• Checks for accuracy after filling by technicians.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree and a current state Pharmacy license. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.

• Hospital training during two years of Radiologic Technologist program.

• Experience in other x-ray departments, clinics, or medical offices highly desired.

• Must be a member of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible and maintain registry once received.

• Desirable to belong to national, state and/or local societies.

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
