Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center seeks a Radiology Technician to join our urgent care team. The role involves performing imaging procedures, preparing contrast media, and ensuring safety standards while maintaining high-quality patient care within a busy clinic setting.

Applicants must hold a Radiologic Technologist license, have completed an approved Radiologic Technology program, and obtain BLS within 30 days of hire. ARRT certification or eligibility is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Current state Radiologic Technologist license required.
  • Degree from an approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
  • ARRT certification or registry eligible and maintain registry.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history and physician orders; educate patient on procedures and equipment.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice; monitor patient condition.
  • Prepare equipment, select exposure factors, and perform QC; troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  • Position patient and perform imaging procedures; analyze results and report scan findings.
  • Enter and transmit scan results and ensure image quality through repositioning if needed.

More about our team

Join our Urgent Care Team consisting of 2 Providers, Registered Nurse (RN), Rad Tech and Lab Assistant. We are a walk-in clinic that treats injuries or illnesses requiring immediate care, but not serious enough to require an ER visit. Hours of operation: 7 days a week, 8:00am-6:30pm. This position offers the opportunity to care for the needs of our community and helps offload the ER so that they can care for emergent patients.

How you'll contribute

A Rad Tech who excels in this role:

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.

  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.

  • Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state Radiologic Technologist license and possess a degree from an approved course in Radiologic Technology. Additional requirements include:

  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.

  • Hospital training during two years of Radiologic Technologist program.

  • Experience in other x-ray departments, clinics, or medical offices highly desired.

  • Must be a member of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible and maintain registry once received.

  • Desirable to belong to national, state and/or local societies.

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
