Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking a Patient Service Associate for the EmUrgent Care - Guilderland location. The role focuses on front-desk clerical duties, patient check-in, scheduling, and insurance coordination within a fast-paced urgent care setting.

The successful candidate will use the electronic health record system, communicate with patients and providers, and ensure accurate registration while upholding HIPAA and policy standards.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• 2-3 years of office experience or 1 year in a medical practice preferred.
• Experience using electronic health records and Microsoft Office is a plus.
• Excellent customer service and ability to multi-task in a high-volume unit.
• Strong time management, problem solving, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Register patients, update insurance information, schedule visits and coordinate appointments.
• Explain financial obligations and regulatory forms; answer questions.
• Work across multiple systems to complete registrations and support clinical workflow.
• Support department plans, policies, and initiatives as assigned.
• Represent Albany Med Health System and uphold professional standards.
• Interact with a diverse patient population and communicate with care teams.
• Utilize the EMR to maintain patient records and registration data.
• Know state and government agency requirements for consents and proxies.
• Adhere to payer requirements for referrals and prior authorizations.
• Schedule follow-ups, referrals, and authorizations as needed.
• Communicate professionally with providers, patients, and insurers.
• Answer incoming calls and route to appropriate team members.
• Present a professional image per dress code.
