Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to be the heartbeat of our clinic, blending clinical duties with front-desk tasks and insurance verification to keep centers running smoothly.

The role involves triage, vitals, venipuncture, CLIA-waived tests, EKGs, wound care, and patient education while ensuring accurate insurance eligibility and EMR accuracy. A dynamic, patient-first environment awaits.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain before starting.
• Urgent care or emergency room experience highly valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients; collect vitals and histories; perform venipuncture and CLIA-waived POC testing; assist with minor procedures and wound care.
• Register patients; verify insurance eligibility; determine financial responsibility; collect co-pays; reconcile payment logs; maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on clinical procedures and financial expectations; provide discharge instructions; de-escalate concerns with empathy.
• Participate in daily huddles; maintain compliance logs; support infection-control and HIPAA standards.
