Job summary

Hometown Urgent Care in Ohio seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinicians with patient history, vital signs, specimen collection, and administrative duties. You will perform point-of-care tests, injections, EKGs, and schedule referrals while maintaining HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

The role requires 1–2 years of clinic experience, familiarity with EMR, and the ability to work with limited supervision. Travel to care centers within the region is required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in a physician practice or clinic preferred.
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and obtain vital signs.
• Perform basic testing or screenings (vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function).
• Draw blood (phlebotomy) and process lab specimens.
• Complete paperwork and lab test documentation.
• Administer injections (subcutaneous, intradermal, intramuscular) per policy.
• Perform point-of-care testing (strep, flu, glucose, urinalysis).
• Dispense and document medications and other treatments.
• Maintain sterile technique and equipment sterilization.
• Coordinate records for ancillary care and referrals.
• Assist providers with exams and testing (pelvic, eye/ear irrigations, splints).
• Conduct occupational medicine testing (DOT, audiogram).
• Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and patient education.
