Job summary

American Family Care in Massachusetts is seeking a professional Medical Assistant to support fast-paced urgent care clinics. You will perform clinical tasks, assist with procedures, and ensure accurate billing and insurance verification to keep centers running smoothly.

Ideal candidates complete an accredited MA program, hold national MA certification at hire, have 1+ year experience with insurance verification and patient registration, BLS, EMR proficiency (Experity preferred), and venipuncture

Qualifications

• Accredited Medical Assistant program completed.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Urgent care or ER experience highly valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (Waystar).
• Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients; collect vitals/histories; venipuncture; CLIA-waived point-of-care testing; assist minor procedures; wound care; EKGs; nebulizer therapy.
• Register patients; verify insurance eligibility; determine financial responsibility; collect co-pays; reconcile payment logs; maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations; provide discharge instructions; de-escalate concerns with empathy.
• Participate in daily huddles; maintain compliance logs; support infection-control and HIPAA standards.
