American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant at our corporate-operated urgent care centers in AL/CT/FL/GA/MA/TN. You will blend clinical care with front-desk duties and insurance verification, ensuring accurate eligibility and payments.

The role requires completion of an accredited MA program, active national MA certification, and 1+ year experience with insurance verification and patient registration. BLS is required; EMR proficiency is desired. Competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (Waystar).
• Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, perform venipuncture and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing (COVID, flu, strep, glucose, A1C, UA, etc.).
• Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile payment logs, and maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations, provide discharge instructions, and de-escalate concerns with empathy.
• Participate in daily huddles, maintain compliance logs, support infection-control and HIPAA standards.
