Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is hiring Medical Assistants to join fast-paced urgent care clinics across the United States. You will blend clinical care, front-desk duties, and insurance verification to keep centers running smoothly and ensure accurate billing.

This role emphasizes empathy, accuracy, and patient-centered service in a supportive team. Qualifications include completing an accredited Medical Assistant program, active CMA/RMA/CCMA certification, and at least 1 year in insurance

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
• Urgent care or emergency room experience highly valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (e.g., Waystar).
• Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, venipuncture and CLIA‑waived tests.
• Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, collect co‑pays, maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations with empathy.
• Participate in daily huddles and support HIPAA compliance.
