Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our corporate-operated urgent care centers in AL, CT, FL, GA, MA & TN. You will blend clinical skills with front-desk duties to ensure accurate insurance verification, smooth patient flow, and proper documentation in the EMR.

Ideal candidates have an accredited MA program, national certification, and at least 1 year of relevant experience. BLS is required or obtainable before starting; weekend/evening availability is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification at hire (CMA/RMA/CCMA or equivalent).
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain before starting.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Care: Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/history, venipuncture, CLIA-waived testing, assist with procedures, wound care, EKGs, nebulizer therapy.
• Insurance Verification & Front Desk: Register patients, verify eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile logs, maintain EMR accuracy.
• Patient Service: Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations, provide discharge instructions, de-escalate concerns with empathy.
• Team & Compliance: Participate in daily huddles, maintain logs, support infection control and HIPAA standards.
