Job summary

Carbon Health in Seattle, Washington is offering an Urgent Care Fellow opportunity designed for new graduates in NP or PA roles. The fellowship provides hands-on experience in acute care medicine with mentorship, didactics, clinical rounds, and proctored shifts within a dynamic startup environment.

The program aims to develop excellent clinical skills in urgent care, including procedures, imaging interpretation, and patient management, with full-time and part-time options after successful

Qualifications

• Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with required licenses and certifications.
• Willingness to obtain DOT certification prior to start date.
• Willingness to obtain BLS certification prior to employment start

Responsibilities

• Provide urgent care services within the scope of urgent care, including examinations, assessments, diagnosis and treatment.
• Order and interpret x-rays, lab results and EKGs as needed.
• Triage and manage patients to maintain steady workflow and minimize wait times.
• Perform procedures such as digital blocks and regional anesthesia, minor surgical tasks, wound management, I&D, foreign body removal.
• Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic injections for joints, bursas, and cysts; perform fracture reductions as applicable.
• Apply braces, splints, and other orthopedic devices.

Education

Physician Assistant: Medical/Master’s degree with a valid state license and national certification

Nurse Practitioner: RN license, NP certification, and a valid state license

What You'll Learn

• Provide exceptional treatment, collaborative care options (within the scope of urgent care), including physical examinations, assessments, diagnosis and treatment
• Order and interpret x-rays, lab results and EKGs
• Triage and manage patients thoroughly and efficiently, maintaining a steady flow to avoid long wait times
• Perform digital blocks and regional anesthesia, and minor surgical procedures, such as wound closure and management, I&D, foreign body removal
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as aspirations and injection of joints, bursas, and cysts
• Perform closed reductions of simple fractures or dislocations of fingers/toes, including nursemaid’s elbow reductions
• Apply and modify braces, splints, and other orthopedic appliances

About You
