Job summary

Carbon Health in California invites new graduates in Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care fellowship. This paid program focuses on hands-on patient care, diagnostic assessment, and rapid clinical decision-making in a fast-paced startup environment.

You will receive mentorship, didactics, clinical rounds, and proctored shifts while pursuing full-time opportunities. Annual compensation of $104,000 plus benefits supports your early career in acute care medicine.

Qualifications

• NP: Medical/Master’s degree with a valid state license and national certification
• RN license, NP certification for NP role
• PA: Master’s degree or equivalent with license and certification
• Must be willing to obtain DOT certification prior to start date
• Willingness to obtain BLS certification prior to employment start

Responsibilities

• Provide urgent care clinical care: physical exams, assessments, diagnosis and treatment
• Order and interpret X-rays, labs and EKGs
• Triage patients to maintain steady flow and reduce wait times
• Perform digital blocks and regional anesthesia, wound closure and minor procedures
• Perform diagnostic/therapeutic procedures such as joint injections and aspirations
• Apply and adjust braces and immobilization devices

What You'll Learn

• Provide exceptional treatment, collaborative care options (within the scope of urgent care), including physical examinations, assessments, diagnosis and treatment
• Order and interpret x-rays, lab results and EKGs
• Triage and manage patients thoroughly and efficiently, maintaining a steady flow to avoid long wait times
• Perform digital blocks and regional anesthesia, and minor surgical procedures, such as wound closure and management, I&D, foreign body removal
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as aspirations and injection of joints, bursas, and cysts
• Perform closed reductions of simple fractures or dislocations of fingers/toes, including nursemaid’s elbow reductions
• Apply and modify braces, splints, and other orthopedic appliances

About You

• Physician Assistant: Medical/Master’s degree with a valid state license and national certification
• Nurse Practitioner: RN license, NP certification, and a valid state license
• Must be willing to obtain DOT certification prior to start date
• Willingness to obtain BLS certification prior to employment start
