Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Charlottesville is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for Urgent Care. The role provides indirect and direct patient care under provider supervision, coordinating exams, recording vitals, and administering medications as ordered.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited medical assisting program, and CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred in most states.
• Active CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NRCMA certification or ABR-OE acceptable if MA certification not available.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required (or as per policy).

Responsibilities

• Record patients' medical history and vital signs.
• Interview patients to obtain information and measure vitals.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
• Collect specimens and prepare for testing.
• Explain treatments and instructions to patients.
• Assist physicians during exams and procedures.
• Maintain clean and sterile environment and equipment.
