Job summary

The City of Laredo is seeking a sanitation worker to remove garbage from residential areas and assist in proper disposal. You will operate a garbage truck, empty containers into the compactor, and help with street maintenance.

Required are a valid Texas driver license and the ability to lift and move heavy objects. The position requires being at least 18 years old and may involve background checks and drug tests in accordance with city policy. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Empties containers into compactor on garbage truck.
• Operates hydraulic levers located on truck.
• Checks sidewalks and curbs to ensure area is clean.
• Inspects all carts for objects that may damage equipment (dirt, iron, wood or rocks).
• Picks up trash and assists with street maintenance activities as required.
• Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts.
• Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications.
• Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
